  • The 1930’s was a momentous time for Firestone Industrial Products and more specifically 1938 because that is when they patented their first pneumatic expansion device or air spring and thus began the road to a more comfortable ride. The development and improvement of the air spring progressed through the years through Firestone’s ingenuity and dedication. Not one to rest on their laurels, in the 1970’s Firestone began manufacturing heavy duty truck cab and seat springs, and then to reduce the overall weight of a vehicle they developed the very first plastic pistons.

    And of course, always with an eye toward the future, Firestone was the pioneer for the injection molded piston in the 1990’s and they also introduced the Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs into their product line. But Firestone was not done yet and in the 2000”s they popularized the air dampening technology with the introduction of the impressive fully integrated intelligent air spring sensor.
